The department focuses on development and strengthening system thinking, problem solving, analysis, design, research, team work, communication skills, and readiness for lifelong learning. The courses run by the department use mixed techniques of interactive lectures, guided case studies, literature surveys and project work that require team work and critical and creative thinking. It emphasizes on undergraduate as well as graduate research activities. The quality policy is to pursue global standards of excellence in our endeavors and to remain accountable through processes of self evaluation and continuous improvement.
Through a team of more than forty faculty members, the department puts a great emphasis on laboratory and project work. While laboratories are also used for developing skills to use and apply various concepts, tools and techniques, their main purpose is to develop the core technical as well as general professional competencies through experiential and collaborative learning. Main purpose of the laboratories is to develop the abilities to design and conduct experiments; collect, analyze and interpret data; work independently and also in teams; and also to improve reporting and communication skills.
Faculty treats students as their children and is always ready to provide support in terms of educational guidance and morale support. Weak Students are identified and are given special attention and extra time for improving on their weakness.
This practical experience in the laboratory is intended to nurture the students initiative, originality, creativity, and spirit of inquiry and also to generate an appreciation of the nature of engineering design and scientific discovery. Through various active learning experiences in laboratories, students gain more insights into the field of study, develop ability to apply their knowledge to a greater extent, exhibit a greater level of understanding of course material and sharpen their problem solving skills.
Educational process has to be dynamic so as to absorb and keep abreast with ail the changes that are taking place in the world all over in the fields of science, humanities and teaching methods. It is our endeavour to blend the traditional methods with the modern developments to retain balance.
The focus is on the child, his educational needs, his strengths and his weak areas. Through individual attention, we ensure that education becomes a joyful, happy and rewarding experience.
Teaching is packaged with friendliness, affection and concern for each child. There is friendly interaction with the teachers who are easily accessible to the students. Ample opportunities are provided to the students for self study and learning through peer groups.
There is judicious mix of studies with ports and co-curricular activities. Wherever possible, theoretical teaching is followed by practical application. At junior level, it is ensured that the students move from concrete to abstract in agraduated and planned manner.
We are conscious of the fact that the slow learner should not hamper the progress of the bright students. The slow learners are additionally coached to catch up with the bright ones. We believe that each slow learner is basically a flier and if given proper guidance. encouragement and motivation he/she too can attain great heights.
We foster in them love for God, care and concern for fellow beings and love for nature. Emphasis is on character building qualities. Discipline enforced does not inhibit a child but ensures his orderly growth. We try to make them models of excellent conduct and behaviour.
JP Boarding house is a 'Sweet Home Away from Home' where the boys' and girls' upbringing is under the watchful and affectionate care of the House Warden and his Staff. Sharing and caring is the chief feature of life on the campus.

The academic block of school is aesthetically designed, airy and have ample natural light coming in to keep it bright; the heavy duty generators function for round the clock supply of power, equipped with latest fire fighting extinguishers. Special attention is given to weak students. They are put through remedial classes. Hand picked tachers are assigned this task, who get down to the basic level of the students and gradually bring up the level of the students upto their class level. It is seen that there are psychological factors which hamper their education. An effort is made to bring them out of the feeling of insecurity and lack of confidence by focusing on their strong points and intrinsic abilities. Our methods do not work wonders but make appreciable progress for many a weak students.
